A little while ago I went out to Jericho Beach and took some photos of Emi to celebrate her high school graduation. The weather was great and Emi was a good subject. It’s often fun to try something you don’t usually do – and though these were still portraits, it was very different from the weddings and engagement sessions I’m often shooting. I think people don’t get enough beautiful portraits taken of themselves (unless there’s a big event)- I know I don’t!
Fashion-Inspired Wedding Photography
9 05 2010Welcome to the Disgruntled Robot Photography blog! It’s taken a while to get online, but I’m hoping this will be a good resource and help soon-to-be-brides and grooms become more familiar with my work. I have a sneaky suspicion that I may not end up writing as often as I should but I’m going to try my best to keep this reasonably up-to-date.
First: a little about me. My name is Kate Williams, I’ve been in the professional photography industry since graduating from the very technical and intensive Professional Photo-Imaging program at Langara College in Vancouver, BC in 2004. It is only recently though that I have really decided to dedicate myself to wedding photography. It took me a long time to realize that I could actually shoot the kind of work that I love to within the confines of weddings – provided that I find the right clients (by which I mean clients with the same ideas of how they want their photos to look, and the value they place on the photographs of their wedding day). I love to capture a mixture of fashion-inspired images and relaxed, candid shots. Now that I have embraced wedding photography I am really enjoying myself and am excited to be a part of my couples’ big days. Other than the photography stuff: I love to travel, to bake, to watch hockey, and I love animals (I have a pet cat).
Well, that pretty much does it for post #1,
Kate.
